Archive for the ‘Photography’ Category

It has been a looooong time since I have posted here on my blog, and even longer since I have created a web site. So, after years of putting off doing a site for me, today I can proudly say that I now have a place on the inter-webs!!! I have merged onto the information super highway, and now I am cruising. Can’t quite make it into the HOV lane yet, but hopefully soon I will.

What finally kicked me in the seat of my pants is that after years of hearing folks tell me to start posting my pics, I finally gave in to the peer pressure. Oh, and I also asked a photographer friend of mine if I could be her 2nd shooter at a wedding, and that wedding is later today (GULP)! Wait, are my batteries charged? Do I have enough memory cards? What time was the wedding? Where is it at?

Anyway, this has really been a fast track! Which reminds me, I just bought a book 3 weeks ago called ‘Fast Track Photographer’ by Dane Sanders (, and it is about starting a photography business.  Real good read for someone like me that was hesitant about doing this. Anyway, I read the book in one week, then asked to be a 2nd shooter the next week, then started from scratch with my web site this week. Wow, 3 weeks ago I was wandering around aimlessly, stuck in my 50-60 hour a week job and wondering what I wanted to do with my life. Now, I am still stuck in my 50-60 hour a week job, but then I get to come home and stay up all night working on what I want to do. I have been charging up this hill for a long time now, and later tonight at that wedding, I will crest that hill and look out and probably see absolute mayhem, then turn and run back down.

So, without further adieu, here is where I am parked on that wonderful inter-web;

And here is the site of my friend that has gone out on a limb by letting me be her 2nd shooter;

She is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, awesome and I hope that I do not let her down. By the way, they just did an introduction video for their business. Check it out right here.

OK, I need to do a couple more things to my web site, then hit the hay. I should have stayed home tonight working, but I took my son to the Braves game (they lost to the Marlins 7-1, boo!).  Ya’ll go have yourselves a great weekend, and I will blog about my first day on the new job later.

By the way……if I get to the wedding like really early, I wonder if I can eat just a little of the food before everybody else gobbles up the good stuff?

Uber-app for iPhone users!

If you are a landscape photographer and an iPhone owner, you will really dig this new app.  For landscape photogs like me, there are only 2 times of the day.  Sunrise and sunset, and this app lets you know when both happen. Head on over to Scott Kelby’s blog and check it out.

And another app for the iPhone estimates the depth of field, aperature, subject distance, and also lets you know when the sunrise and sunset is, provided you own the iPhone 3G model with the GPS.
